
Course 4 of 4 foundational courses. In this course the science and foundational framework are presented and reviewed. This course has the following training objectives:

Describe Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory to help identify patient priorities in the face of adversity.

Apply readiness-to-change theory to assess the patient/family’s willingness to participate in the recommended intervention.

Implement motivational interviewing techniques and OARS framework to discuss key concepts around ACEs and toxic stress with patients and families.

Employ relevant patient education tools related to ACEs and toxic stress.

Use a strengths-based, patient-centered approach to facilitate effective “participatory” guidance and promote family resilience and protective factors.
